Charts, Graphs, Data

There are four options available here. Data can be viewed 'live' from any of the controllers that are currently on-line. This same data is also captured every 30 seconds and logged to a database. The database can be queried for past or current data on currently active systems. There are also archives of datasets from previous systems, tests, and trials. Finally, there are links to graphs of specific data for interesting events.

Live data from controllers

Live data from TS7250 (Home made boiler / Rinnai / black plastic pipe solar)
Live data from TS7260 (Orlan boiler / Heat Storage / Solar)
NFCS on Test Bench - not always present

Current Data From Active Systems

For each project, the Technologics boards were set up to log data to a relational database, typically at 30 second intervals. This data may be viewed and / or downloaded in spreadsheet form.

Interesting graphs

The links below show some interesting events. Each is a subset of one of the data sets above.

  • Rainshowers In this graph, there are brief showers at about 9:30 and 12:30. Otherwise, the day was sunny. This is the PVC pipe collector with circulator pump.
  • Reverse thermosiphon. In this case, the solar collector is above the storage tank. When the outdoor temperature drops below the tank temperature, water from the top of the tank flows to the collector, where it is cooled and returns to the bottom of the tank.
  • Sunny day with pool heater. The heater is plumbed with uninsulated garden hose, which provides some gain or loss between the tank and the panel.
  • Thermistor failure. The thermistor measuring 'Tank Hot Inlet' begins to fail at about 9:15. It drops at first, then begins a climb that has nothing to do with actual temperature. Finally, it fails completely.
